Opinions by GamesBeat community writers do not necessarily reflect those of the staff. Hello, my name is Rory, and I am addicted to sports games.

If you couldn’t tell from my review, I have a particular fondness for NBA 2K14. As we all prepare to start gorging ourselves on the best looking game ever made, it is important to note that we will all have to re-create our MyCareers. Since its release on October 1st, I have played the PS3 version religiously, reviewed it for two websites, and had to re-create several MyCareers due to each of my previous files getting corrupted at different career stages. This has allowed me to figure out what works and what doesn’t. So if you are looking to smash face on Friday, this is your guide. In the past, the best way to create a monster was through the 3 pt specialist play style. This would allow a player to effectively play 4 positions (pg, sg, sf, and pf by creating a tall sf), each with the capability of leading the league from day one. Create the guy, use the Virtual Currency from the showcase game to do Larry Bird’s training camp, and you can go in with an 85 in 3pt shooting, which was enough to shoot the lights out in NBA 2K13. Thankfully, that is gone. 3 pointers are much harder to make in general, and the 3pt specialist play style only offers a base rating of 72. So what do we do? In short– Slashing.

2K14 features the revamped lay-up system. By moving both the right and left stick in different corresponding ways, you can pull off some sick euro-step garbage at the bucket. You also get a lot more fouls called when scoring near the gold in this year’s version. So we use these to our advantage and pick a slashing SGSF. The SG option should be used for both SG and SF, as the game values speed and quickness more than anything else. So if you want to be a SF, create a slashing SG (around 6𔄀 215 lbs) and make sure whatever team you play for has a better SG than SF, so you will be inserted into the starting lineup at SF. If you want a Power Forward, go slashing SF and make him a little bigger (I find that 6𔄃 and 250+ works out). If you make him too small, his secondary position with be SG and you will have to start again. Once again, make sure whatever team you want to play for has a better SF than PF or it will not work. You can check this by checking your player’s info in the showcase game. If you want a center, I’d suggest going athletic PF and making him big, but I don’t have the center position down to a science yet. Now that you have a position, it is time to tweak the signatures. As far as shots go, a quicker release is better, but it is mainly personal preference, especially as your slasher will literally take 2 or 3 jumpshots a game. The dribble moves are what really need adjusting.

FOR ALL CREATED PLAYERS select iso crossover 6, behind back 4, spin 4, and hesitation 4. Why? Because as I said, the game values speed, and these are the fastest iso motions. Everything else is cosmetic and entirely up to you. Above: Your new MyCareer rival. It is a lot more difficult to smash face and go number one in the showcase game, but it can be done. You basically just want to run pick and rolls with your player over and over again. Make sure you slam the turbo button and start heading for the basket right as the pick gets there: too early, and it is a moving screen, and too late, the screen will be useless. You should always be super aggressive on defense too, as the reward of a block or steal heavily outweighs the hit you take for a player racing by you and scoring. Push the break and destroy their souls. Now, that is if you want to go high. It is entirely possible that you don’t.

I should mention here that you should have your team picked out before creation. They should have a need at your position, and you should edit the roster. Now this is optional, but I highly suggest it. Teams don’t just play the 12 best players, they use the weird rotations that actual coaches use. This means a 60 ovr might play 12 minutes while a 76 isn’t even in the rotation. If this makes you angry, you should remove that 60 from the roster before starting the MyCareer. You should also edit the shot tendencies of the best shooters on each team. 2K tried to fix this, and it is better than previous versions, but awesome shooters still pass up open shots. I call this the ‘Ilyasova Problem,” after the Bucks’ big man who refuses to shoot 3’s despite an 86 3pt rating. You fix this by raising the shot tendencies in the proper sections on the Edit Player screen. You can also change some positions around and edit overall stats, but I find that to be cheap. In order to go low, you have to tank the showcase. The quickest and easiest way is by fouling out once you have attained the level you are looking for. If you want to go 30th for example, you are going to want to score a bucket or 2 then intentionally foul out. If you want to go 18th, you may have to get to about 10 points and grab a few boards, then foul out.

It takes some practice and it isn’t exact, but you save a lot of time by fouling out. If you don’t get the team you want, simply turn the game off and try again. Make sure you tank the interviews as well by saying meanarrogant things (usually they are the triangley button options). Step 3: The First Few Games. Above: Your first game pep talk (PS3 image) Now that you are on a suitable team, it is time to get going. I suggest the dribbling drill for your 3 drills. All you need to do is dribble around the cones and use a spin move on the defender and you will get gold easily. Use your VC to up your lay-up and shot in traffic skills first. Lay-up should be at around 75-80 to start with, and you can leave shot in traffic at about 75. If you aren’t very good at free throws (like me), go ahead and level that up to 80 or so. You will be getting a ton of them. After you have those taken care of, go ahead and get your shot close up to 85 and your shot med up to the mid 70s. This will all be done over the course of your first few games. Avoid the legends training camps at first.

Why? Because these will save you a ton of VC if you use them to get your skills from say, 87 to 90, as opposed to 67-70. The higher the skill, the higher the cost to upgrade it. You can probably also wait on the signature skills, but when you are ready, finisher comes first. It will make you an even more powerful force in the paint. As for the actual game play, it is pretty simple. Just run the pick and roll to death. You can also probably take bench players in an isolation, especially if you are a SG playing SF. Your speed will be too much for them. If speed is so important, you may wonder why I don’t go Athletic? It is because Athletic players require a heavy investment in shot close and layup before they can finish, whereas the slasher does not. If you can’t finish, then getting by the opponent doesn’t matter. Eventually, you will find that the AI calls isolation plays for you. If you get by your man, and you should more times than not, just throw yourself at the basket using any of the lay-up moves. I would say 7 times out of 10 you will score or get fouled or both.

Make sure that you talk to your GM after game 3 and ask for more playing time and more plays called for you. If you go to him before game 3, he will probably give you a negative response. By game 5-8, you should be a starter. By game 12 or so, you will be getting 40+ minutes and you should have a shot at breaking your team’s scoring record every single night. If you play for a bad team, like the Jazz or 76ers, you will find that almost every offensive play is called for you. This allows for massive point totals (I think I had 40 in game 10 on my Jazz SG). You will also be getting tons of VC. I’d keep it flowing in to your core attributes: shot close, lay-up, free throw, shot med, and shot in traffic. Improvement in the ball handling skills goes a long way as well, as your player will have a ton of turnovers because of the poor base stats and the amount of iso you run. You should be able to get pretty good steal numbers with the low base amount. 2K cranked the amount of steals your player can get, so a lower stat isn’t a real problem there. Speed and quickness are always good, but they are very expensive. The Isiah Thomas camp will get you some extra quickness, so consider doing that as your first camp later on in the season. The Larry Bird camp will up your shooting, and John Stockton’s will crank your ball handling. Beyond that, they aren’t really important unless you are a PF. DISCLAIMER: I am basing this solely off observations made from the PS3 version.

I played on the highest difficulty. It is possible, though highly unlikely, that none of this will work in the next-gen versions of the game. If that happens, may God have mercy on all of our souls. Let me know in the comments if this worked for you, or if you have any tweaks to make to the guide. Channel your inner MJ, and go forth! The new Firefox. Do you want to create an absolute beast with your My Player in NBA 2K13 ? Of course you do, that’s why you’re reading this article. My Player has become one of the most popular modes of play in the NBA 2K franchise.

This year it has evolved into an even more engrossing mode called My Career. For those that aren’t aware of what this mode is, here is a brief explanation. You create a player, customizing him from head to toe. You choose the name, look, height and attribute base for your virtual love child. You are charged with taking him through an entire career that will hopefully feature individual and team awards. The big difference between My Player and traditional play is that you only control your guy. So when you pass the ball, you have to trust your teammates. Each position carries a different dynamic, and that is a major part of the challenge and appeal. There are tips and best practices to follow to become a force in the virtual NBA, and I have the goods for you. Here is the blueprint for creating a monster My Player. Your player will start with a skill-based profile. You can choose to be a natural athlete, shooter, distributor, post-up guy, and other profiles specific to the position you choose. You’ll have some natural abilities, but to become a beast you’ll need to build your skills.

The only way to do that is through the accumulation of Virtual Coins. The VC is the currency system in NBA 2K13 and it can be earned by playing any and every mode in the game. Even when you’re not playing My Career mode, if you’re playing NBA 2K13 , you’re adding to your VC bank. You can use that VC in other areas of the game, but the primary use for it is in My Career. That said, the first and most basic tip for building a great My Player is to simply play the game…a lot. As you play the different modes you’ll see your VC grow, and obviously the more successful you are, the more you earn. One great thing about this system of earning is that you still accumulate VC when you lose. The world is filled with consolation prizes, and I’m glad NBA 2K13 is on board with that concept. NBA 2K13 can take over your life, and the new mobile apps are simply an enabler.

In this year’s version there is a Facebook based app called NBA 2K: My Life (think Farmville for jocks). If you are a complete basketball vidiot , you may have some sort of withdrawal when you’re forced to leave the house and the game behind. This app can help tide you over until you return to your man or woman cave. The great thing is that you earn VC for playing this app. You also add VC with the tablet version of NBA 2K13 and MyNBA2K , the free app for iOS, Android and Kindle Fire tablets. This is hardcore stuff, but how far are you willing to go to be great? While you’re doing “important” things like working, taking care of the kids, etc, the true virtual champions are building VC. It’s all about sacrifice soldier. Now pick up that tablet and start earning some VC. I’m sorry, I got a little carried away, but you get the point. Picking the right position is important. There really isn’t one position that’s better than the others, it really depends on how you play the game. Obviously, if you’re a point guard you’ll have the ball in your hands more often, but big men get easier buckets and the opportunity to excel close to the basket by snagging rebounds. Each position has its pros and cons. You have to find the one that best fits what you do well on the game. If you have a knack for outside shooting, you may be better off taking a wing position.

If you’re a great playmaker and you have a solid handle on the control stick, the point guard position may be the best fit. If you are solid in scoring on the low post, power forward or center is a smart choice. Picking the position that best fits your style will allow you to excel in games, and thus earn VC faster to expedite your development. Picking the Right Play Style. Each position has six play styles to choose from. All of them have the following three styles: all around, defensive and athletic. In addition to those there are three styles specific to the position. The perimeter spots have three-point specialist as an option, and the pivot men have the option to be back to the basket players. Your choice does not pigeon hole you to this style, but it slants your initial ratings in this direction. If you’re looking for some immediate success I’d recommend choosing athletic as your play style. This ensures your My Player will be an above average athlete, and that will enable you to get hustle points, sky for rebounds and to adequately defend your position. You can work on the skill aspects of your game, but the physical boosts are a little harder to add. For perimeter players, my secondary choice would be three-point specialist.

This style will allow you to score and be a force on the floor early in your My Career. You may be slow and a poor dribbler, but that didn’t stop Steve Kerr from becoming a valuable NBA player. As a pivot man, my secondary choice would be rebounder. If your big man crashes the boards he can attain solid grades for high rebound numbers in games, and he can pick up easy buckets after crashing the offensive glass. Improve Your Draft Stock. When your My Career begins you’ll have to play in the Rookie Challenge. Your performance in this rookie all star game will weigh heavy on where you’re selected. If you do well then you could even hear your name called first in the NBA Draft. In this game it is important to be aggressive, but not foolish. If you turn the ball over a ton, or simply play poorly your draft stock will be effected, and that could land you on a good team, but stuck on the bench behind a solid player. The draft logic is great in this mode, so you’ll likely be selected by a team that has a spot for you, though. However, you do earn more VC based on how well you perform. Check out this video of my My Player, “The Prophet” Malik Knight a. k.a MK99, through his creation and performance in the Rookie Challenge.

You’ll have pre-draft interviews with general managers from teams that are interested in you. This is a cool role-playing theme in the mode. You’ll be asked specific questions relating to the teams current situation, and your answers will help that team determine if you’re a fit for their organization. If you get an interview with a team you want to play for, then try to pick the best, and most attractive response. If you’re being interviewed by the Miami Heat, and you really don’t want to play in South Beach, say something like: “I hate LeBron James, and I’m liable to attack him in the locker room.” Well, you can’t actually say that, but basically you may want to say something arrogant that would likely turn the GM off. After the interviews are done you’ll have to wait to hear your name called in the NBA Draft, just like all the other draft hopefuls. Once you’re selected, you’re a pro and it’s time to play for real—well, virtually speaking. Practice, We Talkin Bout Practice. Allen Iverson is back in the game, but if you want to build a successful My Player you must practice. You do this in the form of a variety of drills. There are some new exercises this year, and they are all pretty entertaining and helpful.

Completing these drills earn you—you guessed it, VC. The amount depends on how well you do. You’ll receive either a gold, silver, bronze or no VC award at all for your time. You’ll get three drills to complete per week (virtually speaking). It is best to use them at the beginning of the week, this way you’ll be able to perform at your best for the games scheduled over the next seven days. That is assuming you chose to use the VC to upgrade your My Player immediately. Let Me Upgrade You: Substance over Style. My Player is so huge this year. It includes cool attires for the three different looks you can sport. That said, pre-game rituals, headbands, and t-shirts don’t necessarily make you a better player. Be sure to build your player's skills before you start going hard after swag. I’m not saying you have to look like the poorest My Player in the 2K universe, but get your game together first. Once you are a legitimate star in the virtual NBA, you can start dressing and acting like one.

Once you’re in games with your team, you must remember one primary rule early on: don’t try to do too much. Your skills are on the infant level and forcing the issue will lead to turnovers, mishaps and a low teammate grade for the game. You don’t want that. You won’t earn VC, and everybody will hate you. Well, maybe not the last part of that, but you’ll feel pretty bad, though. Play to your strengths early, and you’ll start to see improvement in each game. Once you’ve carved a niche for yourself it’s time to start acting like a superstar. Start spending some of that VC on attire, rituals, and other things to get the most out of the experience. Have a sit-down meeting with the GM and demand (or suggest) player personnel moves. It’s all just a part of being the face of the franchise. If you follow this blueprint, you should be on your way. Follow Brian Mazique and Franchiseplay on YouTube and Twitter for reactions, analysis and news from the world of sports and sports video games. NBA 2K14: Young Players to Target in Association Mode. I don't think I'm breaking any new ground here by acknowledging that video games do not perfectly represent reality.

For all of the groundbreaking technologies and the millions of dollars elite companies spend pouring into games, they're still trying to predictably craft the most unpredictable thing in the world—real life. That's especially the case with sports games, where fans will sit and nitpick even the slightest flaw to pieces. For my money, the NBA 2K series is the most realistic simulated sports franchise on the market. Plenty of others come close, but no game captures the fluidity and grace of its sport the way the developers at 2K Sports have done in recent years. Their latest release, NBA 2K14 , has again received widespread acclaim since being released on Oct. 1. It currently sits with a Metacritic score of 86, with the added sense of gameplay realism being cited often as a drawing factor. That said, it's fun to wade into the unreality. I mean, there's a reason we play the games rather than just watch NBA TV on a running loop. (Which, of course, I've been prone to do. But whatever.) Sports video gamers as a whole like the idea of playing their own games, making their own coachingroster decisions, etc. Hence, Association mode remains NBA 2K14's best and most popular game mode. If you're reading this, I'm pretty sure you have a sense of what the mode entails, so there's no need for an in-depth discussion. What is a worthy topic, however, is how to make the best out of your Association experience.

And by that, I mean it's time to talk about youngsters. I'll sit and argue the validity of Kobe Bryant and Tim Duncan among the all-time greats until my face goes purple with rage. I have less than zero interest in playing with either player long term in a video game. Same goes for Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce or any other player who can tell me what the '80s like. Acquiring young players—particularly those with high potential—is key to a successful experience. Whether you do that by means of a fantasy draft or simply firing up the game's trade machine, here are a few guys worth your time in NBA 2K14 . Stephen Curry (PG, Golden State Warriors, 88 OVR) In my experience playing online, I've become understandably enamored with using the Warriors. With their combination of outside shooting, versatile athletes and solid enough big men (for a video game—David Lee and Andrew Bogut are very good in the actual world), it's hard to find many things to dislike. Even with all of that talent, I've found myself muttering, "You've gotta stop shooting with Steph." And then I scamper right down the floor on the next possession, run a pick-and-roll with Curry and splash a shot from beyond the three-point arc. Playing with Steph Curry in NBA 2K14 is a sickness so fun that you never want it to end. Much like we saw during last season's playoffs, Curry has a penchant for hitting shots whenever and wherever he wants. He's one of the best off-the-dribble shooters in the game, and he has a release point that becomes pretty second-nature by the end of your first game.

If you are enamored with athletic guards, I can see where the "intriguing" line ends with Curry. He has a tendency to get blocked more than I'd like going to the rim, and don't dare think you're getting a strip-steal off a turnover. With athleticism and speed tending to get heightened in the video game setting, it's guys like Curry who usually wind up playing worse than they actually are. In NBA 2K14 , that isn't the case. The game's use of spacing and the artificial intelligence's understanding of where to be on the floor allows guys like Curry to sometimes get open even away from the dribble. And in those moments where the little red flame appears under his name, you'll instantly understand why Curry is worthy of an early first-round pick in fantasy drafts. Bradley Beal (SG, Washington Wizards, 75 OVR) Those who spent countless hours with their noses buried in NBA 2K13 know exactly where this is coming from. Last season, Bradley Beal was arguably the most unstoppable young player in the entire game. Gifted with a near-perfect shot release, quickness off the dribble and a ton of athleticism, the Wizards guard was the type of rookie we all wished we could be in My Career. There were two types of players in NBA 2K13 Association Mode: Those who did everything in their power to pilfer Beal from Washington, and those who were doing it wrong. Thankfully, from a realism standpoint, Beal isn't as dominant in NBA 2K14 . Adjustments to the defensive artificial intelligence and the feel of the game as a whole have lessened the impact of players in his strata. Some of his video-gamey tendencies, like the ability to warp-speed dunk, have also been toned down. That said, don't mistake some toned-down tendencies with Beal suddenly being a useless player.

Outside of the Kobe Bryants, Dwyane Wades and other typical selections, the second-year guard is still easily among the most entertaining at his position. You can't tone down the first-step quickness, shooting and athleticism too much—because that's who Beal is as a player. He's also a strong developmental talent, with a solid "potential" score that vaults him near the top of the shooting guard crop within a couple years. The timing on his jumper is also easy to get down, and it doesn't get blocked a ton, which can sometimes be a problem with smaller guards. (Right, Eric Gordon?) If you're the type inclined to fantasy draft your team, Beal-Curry could make a deadly shooting backcourt. Andre Drummond (C, Detroit Pistons, 72 OVR) I'm not sure if you've heard this or not: The traditional big man is a dying breed. Oh, you have? From literally every NBA writer on the planet? Oh, OK then.

Drummond is one of the so-called last vestiges of the traditional big. He's a 20-year-old man-child, equipped with a solid 270-pound body and the strength to bully nearly any big man down in the post. He's also a springy athlete, looking almost like an evolutionary Tyson Chandler while showing flashes of promise as a roll man in pick-and-rolls and blocking nearly three shots per 36 minutes as a rookie. Playing with the Pistons a few times, you can sense Drummond's presence instantly. He skies well for rebounds, commands a presence inside defensively and finishes well at the rum, though he's a liability in most other areas of the offense. Even though his 72 overall rating puts him in a tie for 25th best among centers, maybe five of them are appreciably better within the context of the game. What makes Drummond more fun from an Association standpoint is that he's still such a raw prospect. He's an abysmal free-throw shooter (37.1 percent) in real life, and the game accurately represents those struggles. If you somehow manage to time his free-throw juuust right, you might be able to turn him into a 50-percenter. Drummond also struggles with most facets of offense that do not involve dunking in the game. He's a bit turnover prone down on the low block, either by dribbling the ball awkwardly when using post moves or making mistakes when doubled in the post. The great thing about Association mode: You can work out these kinks. Work with him in the camps offered within the mode—both during the season and in the offseason—and allow one or two years of natural progression. By the time Drummond is 22 or 23, he's a formidable beast without most of the foibles.

Which, of course, is exactly what Pistons fans want to hear. NBA 2K14 My Player Guide: Strategies and Tips for a Perfect My Career. Basically the only game mode I play in NBA 2K14 is MyCareer , where I try to take My Player to the top of the NBA leaderboards – and with some patience and smart play, that’s not going to be too difficult. Therefore, I am here to share with you an NBA 2K14 My Player guide and hopefully guide you through great seasons, tons of SP to spend and an easy way to ultimate glory. Because Lebron might be the official legend of the game, but we’re about to create a new one. So if you are like me and you love to spend all your game time in the My Career mode, this NBA 2K14 My Player guide should come in handy. So let’s get this started with… the beginning! Creation of your player. You start by creating the MyPlayer persona as soon as you load NBA 2K14 for the first time, but after starting the MyCareer mode, there’s more (and extremely important) tinkering to do. We usually spend a lot of time (at least I do) on the aesthetic part and tend to ignore what matters the most: skills, attributes and height – position ratio. In other words, if you want to be a fast PG, then you need a short player and if you want to rule under the rim, get your player over 6.7. Height, however, is not the only important aspect in basketball and NBA 2K14: position and play style also matter a lot.

We have three special styles for each position and three that are identical to all positions and the biggest mistake, in my opinion, would be to go for an “all around” player. Your MyPlayer guy will be pretty sucky at first and it’s better to have him specialize early to earn points in specific areas easier and therefore make it easier to invest in your player’s future. I would recommend going for the shooting skills, especially because being a top scorer is the most fun way to play the game, right? The choice still goes hand in hand with the position you’re playing – don’t get the 3 point expert skill for a Center who would do better with an increase in the Rebound skills, for example. So, in the end, think at how you’re most likely going to play the game and specialize in those skills. Becoming a good all around player will take time. How to choose the best team. I didn’t pay much attention to this, I tried to offer the best answers to all interviews and I ended up being selected by Portland. Now they do have a good team for the future, but they won’t win many games at first, and you need a team that wins in order for you to get that nice boost from the wins bonus. You will have three interviews and the teams will select you (or not) based on your performance during the Rookie Challenge. The best idea would be to have a mediocre performance (B to B+) in order to get drafted after the first 10 players and have bigger chances of getting a better team. Although you won’t know what teams are interested in you, there’s a trick if you find one that you’d like to play: offer the best answers to it and then completely snub the others. You will know if you gave the right answers at the end of the interview, when the GM will say something like “we really liked your answers”.

The Most Important Season: Your Rookie Year. Earning a ton of skill points (and spending them wisely) is what matters the most during your Rookie Year and if you play your games right, you can easily become a top player early on. We’ll start earning skill points with the drills system – which is even worse and more boring than in NBA 2K13, but every bit of extra SP helps, so you’ll have to do these on a weekly basis. And make sure you win them – so go for the easiest drills for your player (in my case, the shooting challenge). Just make sure you always get at least a Bronze reward, because otherwise it’s just wasted time and a loss of valuable Skill Points. Fortunately, it’s not the drills that matter that much, it’s the games you’ll play. At first, you won’t get too much play time so instead of trying to be the star player (which you won’t be able to be, because your stats are really low), try to get the best possible rating by being a good team player: perform well in defense by sticking to your man, hit those good passes and set a lot of screens for your teammates. Play it safe and nice, stack up some skill points and most important, contribute to getting more minutes: the better your rating, the sooner you’ll become a starting player. The focus during your Rookie Season is to improve your main skills based on the type of player that you are. If you want to be a scoring freak, focus on those cheaper mid range shots or lay ups and traffic shots and ignore the three pointers because they are so expensive. You will also need to invest a little in your ball skills and passing, but otherwise pretty much ignore everything. The better your shot ratings are, the more likely you are to get the “Good shot selection” bonus, which matters a lot for improving your overall rating. Only after you’re a true specialist in your area, start piling up the SP and using them on shaping the true superstar you really are. Don’t forget about the GM meetings.

We also have the GM meeting feature in NBA 2K14, and you should take advantage of it: you can get more play time or even help taking a player you don’t like out. Or when you feel that it’s time to move on, that’s where you will have to start your search. So the general idea here is: if you don’t like something, go speak with the GM! Be a Team Player & Play Real Basketball. I know that being a one man show is the most entertaining thing you could want from a game, but NBA 2K14 is a simulation and it challenges you to be a real basketball player. So play for the team, stick to your assignment, pass to your teammates when they are in open positions and have them score too. Especially during the first couple of seasons, you won’t be able to win games by yourself and you need to win games for the best SP rewards. So if you really want to make it big, make sure you are a team player! So for now, this would be my guide for the NBA 2K14 My Player – My Career mode. Do you have further advice to offer? A Look at the Minecraft Super Duper Graphics Pack. Best Games of November 2017. Blurring The Line Between The Virtual And The Real Worlds. Having never played basketball myself, nor watch it ever, I really struggle to be a good position player. Very frustrating at first, when your player basically sucks.. I promoted to being a starter for Indiana in the second game of the second season, but man can this game be frustrating… Love it haha. Glad to hear it was useful, Rob. Pretty soon, you’ll be an all star! Yea do u know where there is a break down for what team needs what player? Kind of like mlb the show told u each teams need. Like I want to play for the kings but just don’t know what position to go for.

Any help would be great. Thank you. In NBA 2K14, I am a SFPF rookie (PLAY STYLE: ALL-AROUND)playing for the Milwaukee Bucks. I have 2 questions? 1. For the Euro Step Layup, the Hop Step Layup, and other types of layups, I start each of them off with a 55 rating. When I looked through all abilities I can increase (OFFENSE, DEFENSE, PHYSICAL, and MENTAL), those types of layups are not there. How do I increase the ratings of each of them. 2. For most of my Athleticism abilities (Vertical, Stamina, Durability, etc.), the max is 90. In fact, none of my abilities at all can get to 99 the highest I can get on some abilities is 92 (except for Emotion – for some reason, I was already given a 99 out of 90 on that). When I look at other players at my position in the game, some of their abilities go past 92, in fact, I saw some 99’s for some players. How do I get mine past 90 or 92, or whatever the number might be? You have to buy the Acrobat signature skill, because it says you get a boost to your Euro Step Layup, Hop Step Layup and other finishing moves for every level you increase.

It’s really expensive though around like 5000 VC. Increase shot in traffic and lay ups it will improve euro n hop steps. for number 1 u make your lay ups to the max and it wil do it to all the lay ups. To get yr rating to 99 u got to do lenged training camp. How do I increase max SP levels? Want to get posterizer and I have dunk maxed, but it maxes out at 85. You don’t. You can get around it though with skills and your own shoes you make when you get them. Some skills will like one man fast brake that boots your speed and quickness by up to 5. Your shoes can be any thing you want. To change what your skills max out at you have to make a new player with a different role, like be a all around player or a 3 point guy. My tv is a bit broken, so I cant see my challenges during games when it pops up, is there any way to see these in the pause menu or something ? I Keep failing the challenges cuz I dont know what they are lol. During play, hit start to pause the game. Go to performance and scroll down to the bottom the screen where your dynamic challenges are displayed.

what type of signature skills would you recommend for athletic point guards?? Catch and shoot is really good. You can run around your guy get a pass then shoot for easy FGs. I’ve played about 6 seasons with my PGSG. His current status is Starter but is there a way i can change the status to Star? I’ve won assist titles and scoring titles but it still won’t let me. To be a star you have to be chosen for the all star team a couple of times. By that I mean you have to be a starter. I got to be a star after my third time. How can I improve as a shooting guard ? You are probably eating your words now. Portland won’t be able to win many games, eh? Third best record in the league after 12 games.

They’re a very sold and deep team. Yeah, but in my game they’re still not doing very good :)) I agree, I wasn’t too glad to get picked to the Blazers as a SF (all-around) with Batum at SF starting, took me about 20 games (10-12 min quarters) putting up insane scoring numbers (69%FG 50%3pt 93%FT) on 38ppg, 5rpg, 5apg, 2.0spg, 1.1bpg in just 24 minutes a game too. But the game really is smart. After I played 3 games in a row of 30ppg, 10+rpg, 10+apg, 3+spg, 3+bpg my guy finally took over starting SF, though Batum is no longer a 6th man and they don’t seem to trade him (how the hell do I trade him for value?) But the Blazers and my career are 22-6 right now, 1 game ahead of the Heat for best record in the game. Lillard, Mathews, LMA, MoWill, Batum, all great shooters, Lopez and TRob nice inside. I am curious to why the MyCareer GM AI sucking. We won 11 in a row with Lopez starting at Center getting 32mins (anchoring the D and 14ppg 11rpg 2.5bpg) but now Lopez is like 12th man with 2k beast Thomas Robinson starting at PF and Aldridge at C. We still have maintained a great record, but most the games are close now as we have no shot blocking Lopez to anchr the D…. I WANT TO TALK TO GM! I have a question. If i want to be a good shooting guard, like Kobe Bryant or James Harden, wich length, lbs and play style i need? And in wich atributes i need to spend my skill points on? Your length should be 6𔃿 or 6𔄀, your lbs should be 200 lbs too 216 lbs. You should also spend you attributes in the mental category the CONSISTENCY thing, yeah you would be like a combination of D-Wade and James Harden…. :) How can i start again a new career? On PC go to start menu (windows 7) and in Search program and files type %appdata% with % !

in roaming folder find Nba folder and in save folder delete everything you want. That is for creating a new player. New carrer start in game mode -> new game. dunno what you meant xD. Im a 6𔄁 sg slasher and i want to know how to increase my vertical from 55, i know you can buy 10+ for 5 games, but how do i max it out? How do I request a transfer on 2K14? I am a Rookie SG but want to move any chance of helping? Also im playing on PS4 I know that certain games have been changed to suit the newer console. You can do this via a GM meeting. It might be possible that a number of games must be played before you can ask for a transfer. Your gm will ask you, I recently started my NBA 2K14 career, but when does the market in My Team open so I can buy players? They took that out of he game you have to buy the packs.

Silver are the way to go. If i retired in my career , but now how do i keep upgrading my player. Because if i make a new career the player starts with low stats. Is there any ways of seeing what teams are interested in you before you ask for a trade. Or can you change your mind about the trade if u see u will go to a poo team. Your manager asks what team you’d like to play for, then when you ask to be traded it shows you who’s interested. Then you pick 3. I got traded to a team I didn’t select. Ok.. Is there a way to change signature skills in career mode ? I’ve bought more than 5 before I knew 5 was the limit. Yes, you go below where it says player upgrades. It say equip upgrades. Go in there and it will be the first thin that comes up. (Xbox 360) Don’t know about PC. When do you get the opportunity to get rod of 2k shoes ?

I’m a 6𔄁 pg average 29-6-11 at 84 overall . Hey, so I’m a 94 overall center and I still have a quench to get better. I maxed out almost all of my stats. How can I get a higher overall, or make my center better. what team you play for? Im in my first season. im a PG for the miami heat. im a starter. we are currently 25-3. My rating is at 89^1 ima beast! I would recommend doing the dribbling drill through the cones, very easy to get gold every time. On the dummy guards a simple spin is a good way to get around them. is there a specific play that got you all those easy assists. I’m also an athletic PGSG. I’m an all around pgsg player for OKC.

I usually do pick&rolls with centerpf (like Ibaka). Once i come out the that pick, either i slide to the basket or slide out to make a pass to the sliding player or inside to the player near the rim. Works well for me. the easiest way to get an assist is that u get the ball, dribble around, wait for till the last 3secs on the shot clock , then pass to a teammate. Make sure he is good so that the shot goes in and u will get the assist . :D. how do i increase my abiltiy ratings? So I have a 6𔃿″ Athletic PG, I’ve won 2 Nba titles, selected to all three all-star games since rookie year, MVP 2 times, Three point contest winner, League leader in points, assists, blocks, rebounds, & steals 2 years running. I’ve gotten nearly all of my achievements for retirement. Play all 82 games with 12 minute quarters, but the most they’ll offer me is 1625 SP for 5 years with a player option. I just wanna know what’s the most they’ll offer before I accept the GM’s offer. BTW I play for the Pistons. Another question I’m wondering is why are all my teammates ratings taking a negative impact even though team chemistry is at 100%? Is anyone else having the same problem?

Im same problem and same team. Ya same problem, different team, but have had negative ratings for the last half season. 90% team chemistry and still retarded. Ranging from -1 to -3. Try to get them involved, I pass to everyone, get the ‘Good ball movement’ all the time, but nothing has helped. Haven’t tried doing a team dinner or meeting yet, maybe that would help. I think thats the max you can get so early. To max out you must pass the 4 year length contract after the the 2+1 rookie contract…wich means 7 years minimum in one team or 6 if you get transfered in rookie year or early in the second and get smaller contract then 4 year after 2+1 contract as rookie…as SG in bulls i got after the 6th year 5 year cotract more the 2000 sp(i think 2500 but not sure) cause my first and second year i was louzy player(low ratings, new to the game) and only got 3 year extention contract, but by then my player had rating about 85 overall and started making good plays, so when 6 years passed bulls maxed out for my player…alternative way is after year one playing almost all games in Season 1 play get good ratings then start playing key games for less games more sp and after 6-7 rings you max out… :) Dimbli sory but I completly desagree with you as a rookie my player is a 99 overall lead the NBA as a scorer breaking the team record in poin, asist and steals 6 times and have only 19 games played with my player my score is 114 p in a single game and is 78 ppg 12 apg 7 rpg and 9 spg als I do 5 bpg and my player is a pg 6𔃿″ but is a 92 in speed 92 in quickness and 90 in steal also 92 in both hand dribling you maybe thing that am joking but thta is the truth and how I get my player like that well I got a glitch that can up grade any layer fro pg to C fro 63 or 64 that is wht you have as a rookie to 94 -99 overall when you get drafted from any team. Any advice on which team to go to as a rookie pg? the best one as a Rooki is the portland trail blasers you can seat the point guard at the fifth games if your are selected to be starter and if that happen some time you going to play as a shoting guard as well. how is you over all as a player is very important to that happen if you are les than 63 probably you aint be selected by portland. I lead the league in assists but all my teammates skills are declining.

How do I prevent that from happening and make go back up to normal. Best Advice… basically everything he said was correct….. im 6`3 pg i average around 42 a game 8 apg and a huge huge huge ratings maker steals about 12 a game. I played sh*tty in my rookie showcase game it was between pacer or clippers i hate lebron so went with clippers 23rd pick i start in my second year lead league in scoring and steals trying to get selected in the dunk contest and three point contest any advice plzzz. O get finisher and ooper as special attruibutes. to get selected in the dunk contest and threepoint shotting contest you have to be selected in the all star and rasing star games and to get there you have to get the averege of the top 20 in the whole league as a shoter defender and the all game stats. the you automatic being selected in the dunk and thre points contest. Tht rlly dosent help its jus like 2k13 jus differrent jumpers and dunks. no DEvon this game is to diferent in many aspect of the game you want a player that can be a wonderful player since start well I can help you but unfortunaly I do not gave the glitch that I have to get your player as the best from 94 to 99 overall just by the phone dont get me wrong is because they traking you and if they get me I can get a summon for use a trade mark eviroment to upgrade the game remember trade mark is a company permission if you violated the right they can sue you but they let me do private so I help you by phine only. if interested let me know. Can you skip anything man?

doont get me wrong i like the game, but i dont want to play all 82 games playing 41 mpg. the lack of control in my career mode is absurd. any ideas? well, in your menu, go in play, and then select play next key game instead play next game, the key games you have to play. Ive got 4 rings 4 season mvps 4 scoring titles 1 defensive team 6 all star games starting and still arent at star status how do i get it? how are you overall ? because that depending in how your ooverall ratting is you have to be at least 94. Get the NBA 2K14 app for your phone log in every day and get your daily vc bonus it varies from 500 to 2000 easy money and has helped me tremendously. Just started my second season and im 1st in my position and 4th overall. i did well in the rookie showcase and i went to the okc, season 2 miami, 3 spurs, 4 cavaliers and 5 cavaliers, i’m point guard 6𔃾” but even in my fifth season i still 80 in the overall rating, any suggestions? Pedro can you call me I can help you to go from 80 overall to 94 or even 99 but I dont give my glitch to every one but if you call me I will help you out my number is 609-380-8928. If you get 101skill points u can get max ratings by buying animations and stuff and when you do you have minus money stay in upgrades and get every thing and max out. I am 6𔃽 scoring of and best position second best in the game.

Hi I have a really good PG with a 97 overall rating and a starter for OKC and I was hust wondering if anybody had advice as to what play types would be best for my PG player? Which 4 play types should I pick out of them? ( isolation, p&r ball handler, p&r roll man, post up low, post up high, cutter, mid range, or 3 pt?) please reply instead of submitting a new comment. Any feedback would be very appreciated. Thank you. for is better working 1 cutter 2 3 point 3 mid distance and 4 cutter that gave you the advantage of shot from every where short mid and three points also gave you the avility to steal the ball from the player you are guarding or any player that try to dribling in front of you but becareful because the umpier love to wisle agaist you if you are not to quick handeling they put you in trouble with the fouls. hi, how does one gain a star role on nab 2k14 next gen.

easy one at the third game go to carrer and interact with the GM of your team and tell them that you are unhappy with the minute you play then select that you dont get alone with a particular member of your team and then select that you understand what they tell you after that select that you are happy with the way the couch is handeling things after that get out of carrer and go direct to home you going to have at least 3 minutes on yoiur play game and then two games latter you become a starter for your team but you have to keep yu work up to 15 points or more if you want to keep your starter position. To get unlimited sp go to animations and get Ray Allen shooting package. You will have a negative number of sp. Im a point guard for Miami Heat and can you tell me how to shoot 3pts. At one game I score 15 and at next game I score none. I have a shot creator, deadeye, corner specialist signature skills. Please help me. Im a pg on my player as well. i find it best to get the team involved and then you will have better shot opportunities. Once that happens you will began to start a streak, and 90% of your shots will drop. Thats one tough thing about 2knba…max out the ratings get deadeye, catch and shoot, corner specialist in max level build shoes as mvp with +3 in 3 points and you ‘ll have a good rating in 3 points…reallllyyyy good… :) is dependingt on your three point shot scale if you are less than 50 its better to go in a, id distance or ashirt shoting because you goin to fail alos every time you shot from thre point but I think that I can help you just contact me directly at my phone and I am glad to help you to creat a monster shoter from everu where my number is 609-380-8928. drafted by dallas. dissapointed not to play so at my second season i risked it all and demanded a trade. ended up at knicks and won the ring with ken baxter(my player)mvp of the finals now at my third season i am at clippers and considered a star m I’ve been playing this my career game now for 2 years and I still have the same problem. My teamates just won’t shoot the ball. Open or not at almost every plays they give me back the ball so I have to do all the work.

Every teams I go to it’s the same problem and whenever I trade players they still end games with 2-4 points cause they just won’t shoot. Is there a way to fox that? they do that because you are the star in the team but if you want them to shot give them back the ball till the shot clock is almost over the limit then they shot. how can I change the quarter length from 5mins o 12mins? in the same place that have 5 min. you push that black cross on the left side of your controle and can go to 6 and up or even 4 till 12. I’m starting my carreer and now I’ve been selected to the Rising Stars Game but i can’t get to the Rising Stars Game. on my screen appears : Congratulatios! In my career, my SP are stacking up, I’m on my 6th season and am wondering what all is there to spend SP on? I know the basics, but, am I missing anything?
